Wanderlei Silva was supposed to make his MMA return on December 29 against Mirko Cro Cop, after more than three years in the sidelines. However, the third fight between the two men was derailed by an injury that forced “The Axe Murderer” out of action.
Heavily displeased by what had happened, Cro Cop went off on a lengthy Facebook rant to lambast Silva for pulling out of the fight, branding his fellow MMA veteran as a “chicken.”
“Wanderlei, don’t you dare to come to Saitama to see the tournament like a guest because I will slap you like a b—- just like you deserve, you are nothing but a scared b—- and I had so much respect for you as a fighter until now. I suggest a new name for you that will fit you well… WANDERLEI ‘THE CHICKEN’ SILVA,” Cro Cop wrote.
Not to be outdone, Silva went on to respond to Cro Cop’s statements, as soon as he found out. As expected, it does not look like he will be backing down.
“What kind of man are you to say this crap online and not to my face?” Silva said in Portuguese through a video he posted (translated by MMA Fighting). “Are you only a man in front of the computer, p—y? Who do you think you’re talking to? Don’t worry. It won’t be now, but you’ll get what is yours. I know really well how to catch you. I know you’re afraid of me, coward.”
Silva explained that his reason for pulling out was due to injuries he sustained when he was hit by a car in May. According to him, he chose not to go through with the fight, despite being offered a huge sum of money.
“I could go in there and see what happens. If I fought 30 seconds or a minute, I’d get my prize the same way,” Silva said. “But I’m a professional, straightaway, and I’d never do this not being 100 percent to fight. Everybody knows I’m coming off a serious injury.”
“I’m training well and training to be back to my old shape, the real ‘Axe Murderer’. I won’t fight just to fight, I’m fighting to win. Silva is back. Wait for it.”
