In a span of an entire training camp, Anthony Pettis experienced two attacks on his vehicles parked in his Milwaukee home. The first one happened in late October while the second incident happened late last week, and was caught on video.
Pettis had just kicked off camp when the first attack happened. During his appearance during the most recent episode of The MMA Hour, “Showtime” revealed that he along with his daughter, his brother Sergio, and his nutritionist was with him in the house when his vehicles were set on fire.
“First night I get back to Milwaukee and you know, I don’t know what happened. I bought a brand new Range Rover, I parked it on my drive way, and three hours later, it’s on fire,” Pettis recalled. “And three of my other cars caught on fire. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence because it’s a brand new car and something happened to it, or somebody actually came and did something to my house.
“I never felt threatened in Milwakee, even now I don’t feel threatened. I go around the city, I go everywhere, I got businesses here, so I don’t know, it’s just a weird thing.”
Pettis will be headlining UFC 206 on December 10th in Toronto against Max Holloway, as the two men face each other for the interim featherweight title. While such occurrences tend to become a great deal of distraction, the former lightweight champion says he never thought about pulling out of the fight, or even leaving Milwaukee.
“No, never. Milwaukee is my hometown,” Pettis said. “This is the city that made me. I mean, I got family deep roots in Milwaukee, my dad is buried by my house, my mother lives three blocks… I bought her a house three blocks away from my house, you know. So Milwaukee is my hometown.”
