Well, that’s certainly an interesting way for Jake Ellenberger to lose a fight via TKO.
Ellenberger fought Jorge Masvidal on the main card of TUF 24 Finale, which is live from The Palms in Las Vegas as we speak. Both fighters started swinging right from the opening bell, with Masvidal getting the better of the exchanges. It appeared that “Gamebred” was going in for the kill close to the end of the first round, and it did come, but not exactly in an expected way.
“The Juggernaut” got his toe stuck in the fence, and while he was trying to remove his toe from the fence, Masvidal was raining down ground-and-pound. Referee Herb Dean called a time out — although, it initially looked like he called off the fight — and was heard on the broadcast asking the commission if it was a cage malfunction. Yet the bout was declared a TKO victory in Masvidal’s favor, even though Ellenberger seemed to be intelligently defending himself as Dean called a timeout. It certainly was a bizarre series of events, and seems to be a result in which Ellenberger has an argument should he decide to file an appeal.
