Joe Lauzon and Marcin Held are slated to meet in an intriguing lightweight pairing at UFC Fight Night 103 early next year, UFC officials announced earlier this week.
Lauzon (26-12) is 2-3 in his last five bouts, dating back to January 2015. In his last fight, he dropped a split decision to Jim Miller in a rematch at UFC on FOX 21. Prior to that, he devastated Diego Sanchez with strikes in the first round of their UFC 200 bout.
After a successful run in Bellator MMA, Held (22-5) made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 98 last month. The Poland native lost to the aforementioned Sanchez via decision in a grueling affair. Held holds notable victories over Dave Jansen, Patricky Freire, and Derek Anderson.
It is not clear at this time where on the card Lauzon vs. Held will be placed.
UFC Fight Night 103 takes place live from Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix on Jan. 28. In the main event, rising featherweight Yair Rodriguez fights UFC Hall of Famer and former two-division champ B.J. Penn.
