Competitive grappling is back in the forefront as two major events are set for this weekend. Two of the premiere organizations in the sport, the Eddie Bravo Invitational and Five Grappling, are bringing a number of big matches. One glance at both of the cards and the competitors slated to step on the mat, and it becomes clear that there’s enough action to satiate the biggest grappling fans.
EBI 10 is up first on Friday, December 2 and the promotion drops back down to the lighter weights as it features the bantamweights. Current featherweight champion, Eddie Cummings, is back to represent the Danaher Death Squad and claim a new belt. The field is very stacked and there are a number of interesting athletes throughout the bracket; with a mix of well-known names and relative unknown athletes.
For example, Geo Martinez is also back and looking to take home his third title. He won the first two events at featherweight and his resume includes wins over some of the biggest names in the sport. Expectations are that Martinez and Cummings will meet in the final match; a bout that has been highly anticipated due to both men having success in the same weight class.
The field also features other accomplished grapplers such as the famed mixed martial arts and grappling competitor, Baret Yoshida. Yoshida is the oldest athlete in the tournament, but he’s also the most accomplished; winning two silver medals in ADCC. Yoshida has competed in three other EBI events. His return is alongside other former EBI competitors Alexis Alduncin, Kristian Woodmansee and Ashley Williams.
EBI 10 is live from Mexico City, Mexico and starts at 7pm Pacific, 10pm Eastern Standard Time. As with other EBI events, the show will be broadcast on UFC Fight Pass with a replay available after the show.
