Join us tonight on Bloody Elbow for the Bellator 165 live results, streaming video (prelims), and detailed play-by-play as Ben Henderson looks to capture another world title as he challenges Bellator’s lightweight ruler, Michael Chandler. The card will also feature the 11-0 Michael Page, and his scintillating style, taking on Fernando Gonzalez, who is also undefeated in his Bellator career. Michael Chandler vs. Ben Henderson: Lightweight Title

Round 1- Henderson takes the center before Chandler starts pushing back. A lot of feinting going on before Chandler throws a kick. Body kick followed by straight right for Chandler. High kick results in a slip by Henderson. Henderson back to his feet. Bendo lands a jab. Chandler rents a right hand and throws a kick. Chandler is launching big punches as Henderson is caught against the cage. Chandler has the back of Hendersonand lands a belly to back suplex! Chandler moves to half guard but Bendo scrambles to rubber guard. Chandler stands over Henderson dropping heavy leather. Upkick lands for Henderson. Chandler goes for Guillotine but Henderson escapes. Chandler is teeing off on Henderson. Henderson manages to get Chandler up against the cage. A knee to the body lands for Henderson as the round ends. 10-8 Chandler

Round 2- Ben Henderson moves forward throwing keg kicks. Chandler throws a jab but Henderson counters with a right hand. Henderson probes the jab. Chandler throws a naked kick and Hendersonstrikes, knocking Chandler off balance. Body cross lands for Chandler. Henderson fakes the takedown. Overhand lands for Henderson. Push kick lands for Chandler, followed by a cross. Henderson misses a wide left hook. Bendo shoots in to no avail. Henderson lands a body kick. Chandler gets kicked in the pills. Time out. The action resumes and Hendersonlaunches a variety of kicks. A one-two combo lands for Chandler. jab lands for Henderson followed by a body cross. Cross to the face lands for Chandler. Big body kick lands for Henderson followed by a stiff jab. Another body kick for Benson Henderson scores as the round ends. 10-9 Henderson

Round 3- Hendersoncomes out and lands another noisy body kick. Strong jab lands for Henderson. Chandler begins to bleed under the left eye. Henderson shoots in but Chandler defends. Henderson holds Chandler against the cage as he lands short knees. They separate and Chandler lands a body kick. Elbow lands for Henderson but Chandler responds with a straight right hand. Jab, cross, head kick combo lands for Henderson. Guillotine attempt from Chandler in top position. Henderson escapes and Chandler is on top in the guard. Chandler transitions to the back with one hook in. Chandler presses his opponent against the cage, holding the leg of Henderson. They break apart and Henderson launches a head kick as the round expires. 10-9 Chandler

Round 4- Henderson takes the center and throws a jab. Body hook misses as Chandler moves out of the way. Oblique kick lands for Henderson and Chandler answers with a jab. Chandler scoops up Henderson and drops him with great vigor. Chandler working top position but Henderson works back to his feet. Chandler falls into the guard of Bendo and starts to land body punches. Henderson scrambles up to his feet. Chandler with another takedown. Bendo back up and tries to hit a switch. Kimora attempt for Henderson to no avail. Chandler sucks out the hips of Henderson to keep him on the floor. A few elbows from the bottom score for Henderson. Chandler takes the back of Henderson before ending up in a funky scramble. Henderson puts Chandler in a crucifix but Chandler somehow reverses it before the round ends. 10-9 Chandler

Round 5- Henderson starts the round by throwing a multitude of straight punches. Chandler throws a one-two but misses. Henderson pushes forward throwing hands. Bendo fakes a takedown as Chandler feints. Big body hook lands for Henderson before he shoots in and gets a takedown. Henderson takes the back and attacks the neck of Chandler. Chandler escapes and ands up on top. Chandler pushes Henderson against the cage, holding on. Henderson is landing small strikes from a recessive position. Bendo scrambles out and almost takes the back of Chandler. The same funky scramble takes place from the end of the second round. Chandler hangs on to a single leg before Henderson finds the top position. Henderson lands some ground and pound from the top. Chandler back to his feet and they both get back to the feet and Henderson pushes Big John out of the way in hopes of getting in one last flurry before the round ends. 10-9 Henderson

Michael Page vs. Fernando Gonzalez: Welterweight

Round 1- Page starts with his hands at his side per usual. Gonzalez is playing the outside. Jab lands for Page. Gonzalez throws a head kick but misses. Another jab lands for MVP. Page begins to showboat a bit as Gonzalez does not pressure forward. Naked head kick misses for Gonzalez. Page with an oblique kick. The crowd is growing restless. Page is moving closer as he feints. Boo’s from the crowd ensue. Body kick lands for Gonzalez. Gonzalez comfortable throwing solo strikes. Jab for Page hits the mark. A lot of looking at each other but not much else. Both fighters throw kicks as the round ends. 10-9 Page

Round 2- Page starts a bit more aggressive with the pressure. Another naked kick for Gonzalez lands. Oblique kick sends Gonzalez backwards. Page shows his back and does a little dance. Page pumps the jab but hits air. Gonzalez starting to march forward, without throwing anything. MVP slips and Gonzalez lands a left hand. Both men feinting but not pulling the trigger. The crowd is not happy. Double overhand lefts mis for Gonzalez. Page feints the lead leg kick. Jab keeps Gonzalez on the outside. Page winds up his right hand as a distraction but does nothing with it. MVP turns his back a few seconds before the round ends. 10-9 Page

Round 3- MVP takes the center as Gonzalez circles the outside. A spinning kick from Page ends up with Gonzalez with a clinch. Gonzalez has Page pressed against the cage, working for a takedown. They break and MVP returns out of range of Gonzalez. Gonzalez starts moving forward with punches. Straight right lands for Page. Gonzalez is moving forward but struggling to cut off the cage. MVP is just not there to be hit. Referee Jason Hertzog stops the action to promote more violence. Body kick lands for Gonzalez. Page continues to dance on the outside making Gonzalez miss. Jab lands for MVP. Gonzalez shoots in but is unable to get the takedown. Page has his back to the fence as Gonzalez throws some knees to the body. Gonzalez has his hands clasped together but still cannot get MVP down. They separate and MVP continues to move out of harms way past the crowd boo’s and the time expires. 10-9 Gonzalez

Brandon Girtz vs. Adam Piccolotti: Lightweight

Round 1- Girtz takes the center working his jab. Piccolotti responds with a big kick. Girtz lands a big overhand. Girtz lands another big punch. Piccolotti with a shot followed by a knee. Piccolotti with a flying knee. Girtz misses an overhand left. Piccolotti using his range to land some leg kicks. Another kick from Piccolotti but a big left hand from Girtz in response. Big leg kick from Piccolotti. A head kick lands for Piccolotti. Jab cross for Girtz. Piccolotti continues to attack the lead leg of Girtz. Girtz is struggling to get in range. Girtz with a body cross. A lead uppercut misses for Girtz. A jump knee from Piccolotti followed by left hook. A flurry from both men to end the round. 10-9 Piccolotti

Round 2- Girtz comes out winging hooks. Overhand right lands for the southpaw girtz. Right hook misses but left to the body lands for Girtz. Piccolotti back to the body kick. Piccolotti continues to stand just out of range for Girtz. Girtz throwing more volume but not landing the majority of them. Girtz’ body cross continues to land. Piccolotti lands an overhand right. Spinning backlist misses by a mile for Girtz. Piccolotti begins to stalk and secures a takedown. Piccolotti spins to the back of Girtz. Ground and pound ensuing from Piccolotti but Girtz back to his feet. Leg kick lands for Piccolotti. Girtz trying to use the jab to find the range for his cross. Inside leg kick for Piccolotti. Skip knee lands for Piccolotti that jars Girtz. Flying knee from Piccolotti and another overhand from Girtz. Another overhand by Girtz misses the mark as time expires. 10-9 Piccolotti

Round 3- Girtz takes the center but Piccolotti with the leg kick. Girtz closes the distance but a knee to the body lands for Piccolotti. Cross lands for Girtz but Piccolotti stays at range. Right hook misses but body cross lands for Girtz. Overhand right lands for Girtz. Piccolotti blasts a double but ended up on bottom. Piccolotti quickly back to his feet. Straight left lands for Girtz. Girtz inching inside trying to find his range. Girtz beginning to land his left. Leg kick lands for Piccolotti. Girtz charges in with wild hooks and dumps Piccolotti on his back. Half guard for Girtz landing some strikes. Piccolotti with the knee bar attempt. It’s tight. Girtz escapes and is on top dropping hammers. Girtz continues to throw strikes but the fight comes to an end. 10-9 Girtz

Adam Piccolotti def. Brandon Girtz via Unanimous Decision (29-28 x 3)

Keri Melendez vs. Sheila Padilla: (W) Flyweight

Round 1- Melendez comes out probing with the jab followed by a right hand. Padilla throws a 2 piece but Melendez throws a cross and moves out. Big straight right hand on the button and Padilla is down! An academic hammerfist and it’s over! Keri Melendez just won her pro MMA debut.

Linton Vassell vs. Francis Carmont: Light Heavyweight

Round 1- Vassell opens with a big leg kick. Strong cross from Vassell. Carmont throws a couple heavy body kicks. Vassell with body lock and gets the takedown. Vassell lands in full mount and has grapevines. Carmont manages to gain half guard. Some light ground and pound and Vassell is back to mount. Vassell working for the arm triangle but Carmont defending. Vassell takes the back and locks up a body triangle. Some punches from the back ensue. Vassell is controlling looking for a Rear Naked Choke but Carmont continues to defend. Some more strikes to soften up Carmont from Vassell. Linton Vassell goes hard for the choke. Loses the choke and process to land some light punches. 10-9 Vassell.

Round 2- Both guys exchange kicks to start the round. Carmont with the shot and lands on top. Carmont takes the back and now he is looking for a Rear Naked Choke of his own. A complete reversal of of positions from round 1. Vassell gains tops position from a slow scramble. Vassell now moving to the back. Vassell working the half-nelson, switches to a Rear Naked Choke. Carmont defends well, so Vassell throws some more softening punches. Some elbows from the back lands for Vassell. Vassell with the body triangle continues to throw light strikes. Vassell with a last second squeeze as the round ends. 10-9 Vassell

Round 3- Vassell starts with a jab followed by a cross. Overhand lands for Vassell. Linton Vassell closes the distance and pushes Carmont against the cage. A brief scramble and Vassell back to cage with the control of Carmont. They break and Carmontlands and overhand right. Vassell uses two punches to close the distance again and push back to the cage. Another scramble ends up with Vassell with back control. Carmont continues to defend well but is not scoring. The body triangle seems to be enough to continue to maintain back control as Vassell rains down strikes. A near Rear Naked Choke submission but again Carmont escapes. Carmont gets back up and walks all the way to the other side of the cage. A brief exchange and both men agree to allow the time to expire. 10-9 Vassell
