Miesha Tate beat Holly Holm to become a UFC champion just as recent as last March. Just two losses and 4 short months after losing her title, Tate has decided to call it quits.

Tate suffered a tough defeat at UFC 205 against Raquel Pennington, and the former bantamweight champ immediately announced her decision to retire on her post-fight interview.

“It’s because of the result, I had a lot more to give but I couldn’t pull it out of myself,” Tate told Joe Rogan. “It’s been a long time, taken a lot of punishment. I still love this sport. I love you guys, thank you, but this is it for me”

“I’m announcing my retirement, you guys. I love you all so much. I’ve been doing this for over a decade. Thank you so much for being here, I’ll love this sport forever, but it’s not my time anymore, it’s the future’s time”

Tate has compiled an 18-7 record in her 9-year MMA career. In the process, the 30-year-old managed to take championships at both the UFC and Strikeforce.
