Today Conor McGregor strolled out onto center court at New York City’s Madison Square Garden to workout in front of fans and media ahead of his historic UFC 205 showdown with lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez.
Lucky for us, the Submission Radio crew are on location in the Big Apple and they were able to capture the action (all seventeen minutes of it) in the video above.
In the slowed down, and largely ceremonial, workout session there might be some clues as to how “The Notorious” one plans to tackle “The Underground King” come the main event of the UFC’s first ever event in New York City.
Among the moves on show were McGregor’s signature boxing combinations, as well as a spinning back kick and a jumping knee to the body. Some brief grappling on the hardwood also ensued, with McGregor and his sparring partner (Owen Roddy) simulating a rear naked choke. Perhaps most notable within McGregor’s showcase was the takedown defense drills. Many a pundit has described Alvarez’s wrestling skills as one of the biggest obstacles on route to McGregor becoming the UFC’s first and only two-division champion.
