It looks like Urijah Faber is ready to hang ’em up. The 37-year-old pioneer of the lighter weights announced today on The MMA Hour that he will be ending his long run in MMA after a bout in his hometown in December against Brad Pickett:

“I’ve been kind of waiting for this, and this is actually going to be my last fight. And it just feels right to do it in [Sacramento] in this new area. It just feels like the right time and the right place. I’ve been waiting for this new arena to be built, I was waiting for that Dominick Cruz opportunity, and I feel like this is going to be an epic event and I can’t wait to do it in front of the people I love.”
Faber (33-10) was the main star of the WEC during their rise as a regional promotion to a product that the UFC purchased to nurture the lighter-weight divisions. He was their featherweight champion for over two years, defending his title five times in the process. He then moved over to the UFC as a bantamweight, where he challenged for the title multiple times and stayed at the top of the division for his entire five-year run.
Faber will meet Pickett at UFC on Fox 22. The main event of the show will see Paige VanZant face off with Michelle Waterson.
