Gunnar Nelson is out of the UFC Fight Night 99 main event opposite Dong Hyun Kim due to injury, according to an MMAFighting.com report. The extent of Nelson’s injury wasn’t stated.
Gegard Mousasi and Uriah Hall are now slated to headline the event, per the Friday report.
It is unclear at this time whether a replacement is being sought for Kim or the Korean fighter will be booked for a future card.
Mousasi and Hall first met at UFC Fight Night 75 in Saitama, Japan 13 months ago. Hall was a sizable underdog going in, but, after a dominant first round for Mousasi, “Primetime” scored a vicious knockout win in the second round.
Since then, however, Mousasi (40-6) has won three straight. Most recently, “The Dreamcatcher” finished former champ Vitor Belfort with strikes in the UFC 204 co-main event earlier this month. His other victories since the Hall loss are a TKO of Thiago Santos and a unanimous decision over Thales Leites.
Mousasi expressed interest in fighting Hall after his win over Belfort.
Hall (12-7) has gone the other way since his win over the longtime contender. In his last outing, he got knocked out by rising contender Derek Brunson. Prior to that, he dropped a decision to Robert Whittaker at UFC 193 last November.
UFC Fight Night 99 takes place live from SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Nov. 19. The entire card streams live on UFC Fight Pass.
