Join us tonight on Bloody Elbow for live results, streaming video (prelims) and detailed play-by-play as Bellator 162 comes to Memphis, Tennessee. The card features he return of former middleweight champ Alexander Shlemenko, as he takes on grizzled veteran Kendall Grove. The card will also featured bouts with Bobby Lashley, Ryan Couture, and Hisaki Sato.

Kendall Grove vs. Alexander Shlemenko

Round 1 – Leg kick from Grove. They trade rights. Spinning back fist from Shlemenko. Spinning back kick now. Neither connect. Shlemenko drops Grove with a shot. He’s up quick, but caught in a guilloine. He escapes that and they go back to the center. Groves stuns Shlemenko with a left hook. He’s all over the Russian. Shlemenko is game though. Grove with a right hook. Shlemenko misses with two spinning back fists. 10-9 Shlemenko.

Round 2 – Spinning heel kick sends Grove reeling across the cage. Brutal body shot hurts Grove. Delayed reaction, but he went down. Shlemenko jumps on him with punches and it’s over. Nice finish. Looked like a liver shot.

Josh Appelt vs. Bobby Lashley

Round 1 – Leg kick from Appelt. Step-in left hook from Lashley. He clinches up. Ref missed an eye poke. Lashley gets a takedown. Appelt gives up his back. Appelt rolls back over and gets mounted. Gives up his back again. Lashley landing punches to the dome. Appelt’s nose is bloodied up. He’s basically just turtling. He survived the round though. 10-9 Lashley, he didn’t do enough for a 10-8.

Round 2 – Appelt opens with two right hooks. Brief guillotine attempt. Lashley is on Appelt’s back again, and quick. Now in mount. More punches. Sunk the choke after Appelt gave up his back again. Lights out.

Ryan Couture vs. Goiti Yamauchi

Round 1 – Couture gets him against the fence, grinds away, and gets a takedown. Yamaguchi gets an arm from the bottom. Armbar! Couture taps! That was fast.

Hisaki Kato vs. A.J. Matthews

Round 1 – Body kicks from Kato. They trade hard in the pocket. Matthews with a hard jab. They trade kicks. Matthews gets thumbed in the eye and they take a break. The doctor is in. He’s able to continue. Kato charges forward with kicks immediately. Head kick wobbles Matthews. Some punches and he goes down. Kato dropping punches. Matthews gets up and looks to survive the round, but Kato drops him again with a big shot right before the horn and the fight is over.
