Georges St-Pierre shoots down Aldo’s claim, says he didn’t ask for $10 million

Jose Aldo has made some bold claims since recently making it clear that he is not happy with the UFC, but one of them is not true, according to Georges St-Pierre.

Aldo recently stated that St-Pierre requested $10 million to return and that UFC president Dana White wasn’t interested in paying the former welterweight champion that amount of money.

But St-Pierre said on Monday’s The MMA Hour that that is not correct.

“This is not true that we asked for 10 million. I read the article. What we asked, it was not 10 million,” he told Ariel Helwani. “Trust me; it was very, very reasonable.”

During the interview, St-Pierre also revealed that he has officially parted ways with his longtime home of the UFC and is now a free agent. Although he was in talks with the promotion, negotiations fell apart when the UFC was sold to WME-IMG this past summer, St-Pierre said. He hired a lawyer, James Quinn, to terminate his contract with the UFC.

At this time, St-Pierre isn’t sure what is next.

St-Pierre, 35, walked away from the sport at the end of 2013 following his ninth-consecutive title defense against Johny Hendricks. Since then, he has expressed interest in a return numerous times, but nothing has come to fruition. White has been adamant that the Canadian will not come back for the past two years.

The UFC issued a statement on Monday evening regarding St-Pierre’s comments. According to the promotion, St-Pierre “remains under an existing agreement with Zuffa, LLC,” and is not a free agent.
