On Thursday morning, a spokesperson for the Russian MMA Union confirmed that Fedor Emelianenko’s eldest daughter was attacked by an unidentified assailant while on her way home from school. The official statement comes less than 24 hours after a report revealed that a famous heavyweight’s daughter was assaulted in Moscow.
According to the Union’s press secretary, Julia Kuklin, a police investigation is currently ongoing in Moscow.
“Indeed, the attack on the daughter of Fedor Emelianenko took place,” Kuklin told Tass. “At the moment, the girl feels good. She is in the intensive care. She got the police to deal with the incident and an investigation is under way. None of the assumptions in the media have been confirmed by the competent authorities.”
A criminal case was filed with the Moscow authorities for ‘battery,’ which holds a maximum prison sentence of two years in Russia.
The incident took place just days after Fedor condemned Kadyrov’s World Fighting Championships of Akhmat promotion for hosting child MMA fights. His comments were met with threats, insults, and attempts of public humiliation from fighters like UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov and WSOF champ Magomed Bibulatov.
All comments were later deleted at the request of Kadyrov, who declared on his social media account that Fedor likely “realized his mistake.”
Emelianenko was unavailable for comment, though his longtime coach, Vladimir Voronov, told R-Sport that the heavyweight is still in Stary Oskol preparing for a yet-to-be-announced fight.
“Fedor continues to get ready at the training camp in Stary Oskol, together with the national team, working equally with all. I heard about the news (of the attack on a fighter’s daughter), but have nothing to say about it. He continues to train.”
