The UFC dedicated Saturday’s UFC 204 to the late Josh Samman.
In its opening moments, the pay-per-view broadcast displayed a graphic with a photo of Samman smiling.
Samman passed away in a Florida hospital Wednesday after being in a coma for nearly a week. He was found unresponsive alongside MMA ring announcer Troy Kirkingburg, who was pronounced dead upon arrival, in Kirkinburg’s apartment last week.
Samman was a middleweight fighter for the UFC, the premier mixed martial arts organization. He also contributed to BloodyElbow.com, as well as two other websites, as a feature writer.

At the time of this story’s publishing, UFC 204 is currently taking place live from Manchester, England. In the main event, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping is slated to rematch MMA legend Dan Henderson, who knocked out the champ at UFC 100 seven years ago.
