Alexei Auld is back with a brand new book available 7 Secret Sources of Inspiration: A Snappy Guide for Creative Procrastinators to grill Eugene S. Robinson (who’s pushing a GoFundMe to pay for the new Oxbow album) and myself with some PR stumpers from the world of combat sports.

- At 0:39 – You’re WME-IMG. Last Saturday, UFC fighter Roy Nelson not only flipped the bird to referee John McCarthy, he literally kicked him in the butt. And said, if given the chance, he’d do it again. With other sports leagues fining and suspending players for just jawing with referees, what moves do you need to make to not only establish your authority as new owners of the UFC but to safeguard the sanctity of the black shirts (or whatever they call MMA refs)?
- At 10:49 – You’re Corey Feldman. Your Today show musical performance trended on Twitter for all the wrong reasons. Days before, your guitarist, fearing embarrassment of a “s— show” and your distracting dancing, quit. Page Six posted the voicemail you left her, threatening to ruin her career if she ever came back to LA. Oddly enough, her last name is Kali, eerily similar to the Hindu Goddess of Time, Creation, Destruction and Power. Other than prostrating yourself to her power, what timely PR moves are within your power to overcome the destruction of your creation?
- At 17:50 – You’re Maddox Jolie-Pitt. Something happened on a flight with you and your family which led to your mother Angelina Jolie filing for divorce and her surrogates alleging your father Brad is a substance abusing bad dad. His surrogates are fighting back. And you’re caught in the middle. How do you prevent being an unwitting pawn in the Pitt-Jolie war?
- At 27:46 – You’re Donald Trump. Journalist Matt Taibbi and former DNC chair Howard Dean both openly accused you of being on cocaine for the debate. Since you got this bad news, how you gonna kick them blues?
- At 34:54 – TEACHABLE MOMENT: You’re a police chief faced with one of your officers shooting a black man to death. A Tulsa, Oklahoma officer killed Terence Crutcher and the city had vigils. A Charlotte, North Carolina officer killed Keith Lamont Scott, and the city erupted in riots which resulted in looting and death. What can we learn from how each department handled their policing PR nightmares?
- At 41:52 – EUGENE’S LOST BATTALION
Enjoy!
