Last night’s RIZIN FF show was everything you’d expect from the people that brought you PRIDE – it had some good fights, a lot of pageantry, and a few doses of insanity. The latter involved pretty much anything Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett did. But before we explain last night, let’s give you some context.

Back in 2005, Bennett was involved in a famous backstage confrontation with Chute Boxe’s Cristiano Marcello. This led to Bennett being choked out in a Marcello triangle. Wanderlei Silva, Marcello’s teammate, was there. Bennett always claimed that  he knocked Silva out after that, but the video edited that part out. Silva always maintained that never happened.

Fast-forward to earlier this week. Bennett and Silva were both in Tokyo for the RIZIN event – Bennett to fight, Silva to promote. They started yapping at each other in the hotel lobby, with the old incident obviously coming up in conversation (tweet via Campbell McLaren):

That confrontation led to Silva deciding to corner Bennett’s opponent, Minoru Kimura. The fight itself was over in just seven seconds. Here he is yapping to the camera about Wanderlei during the ref instructions (tweets via Caposa):

Check out the ref cam of the fight:

After that, he completely blew a top rope backflip, tumbling across the ring. He charged around the ring like a wild man, yelling at Wanderlei and doing all sorts of stuff. Then he got on the mic. And it got really surreal/strange/amazing. You can see the fight ending, the failed backflip, and the crazy post-fight interview here:

Here’s a portion of it transcribed:

“Where’s Candylei? Candylei, I’m not going to even say, but 300K. Candylei, for the record, you know what happened in 2005, and that’s why you’re still salty. That’s why you’re still trying to get some of this, but you can’t get none of this unless you put it on contract. You put it on contract, then you can get some and other than that, every time your big-steroid-head ass see me.”

There was a lot more to it than that – he talks about the celebration being harder than the fight, that being the quickest paycheck he’s ever collected, and more. You truly need to watch it to understand.

Predictably, it seems that Silva was not amused by Bennett’s actions. They apparently got into it backstage later on:

I’m not sure if it’ll actually lead to a fight – Bennett is a lightweight, Silva is a middleweight or light heavyweight – but it certainly is all pretty amusing.
