Things just got a little personal between Fabricio Werdum and Travis Browne.
The two heavyweights will collide in the co-main event of UFC 203 tomorrow night and Werdum, who lost his HW title to Stipe Miocic back in May, had some strong words for ‘Hapa’ at yesterday’s pre-fight press conference.
Before he even entered the stage, Werdum told his teammates in Portuguese that he was going ‘break this motherf***er’ (h/t Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting).
During the staredown, things got even more heated.
“I will break your face, bastard,” Werdum told Browne. “… I’ll break your rib, clown. You know I will break you. You know I will break you. You know that.”
Werdum is known for his laid-back demeanour and joking antics prior to fights, but the Brazilian was criticised for not taking Miocic seriously enough at UFC 198. Uncharacteristically, Werdum stormed out of the gates looking for the KO, but the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu expert was caught with several counters before eventually dropping to a right hook midway through the first round.
This time, the former champion is all business and will look to re-establish himself as a serious threat to the heavyweight throne.
The UFC 203 pay-per-view, which features a championship tilt between Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem in the main event, takes place Saturday, September 10 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
