Mickey Gall thought that walking out to “Mickey,” a popular 1980s pop song, at UFC 203 this weekend would have made perfect sense. But UFC president Dana White wasn’t so down for that idea.
A recent episode of “UFC Embedded” showed Gall receiving a phone call from White while in a vehicle. After he hung up, the welterweight revealed to his family members that White did not approve of his walkout song choice.
“I was going to do my walkout song, ‘Hey, Mickey, you’re so fine,’ ‘cause that would have been awesome. But he wants something harder,” Gall said.
This wasn’t the first time White did not allow a fighter to walk out to a certain song. At UFC 158, middleweight Chris Camozzi wasn’t allowed to walk out to a Hatebreed song. Ex-champ Anderson Silva wanted to make the walk to a different song than usual at UFC 183 last year, but that idea was shot down by White, too.
Gall did not reveal what song he will instead walk out to at UFC 203.
Gall welcomes CM Punk to the cage for the first time on the main card of UFC 203, which takes place from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on Saturday, Sept. 10, and is headlined by Stipe Miocic vs. Alistair Overeem.
