It’s been confirmed that Georges St-Pierre has enrolled in the United States Anti-Doping Agency’s drug testing program to prepare for a potential return to the UFC.
The former welterweight champion has also teased at a rematch with Nick Diaz at UFC 206 in Toronto, which coincides with the USADA’s four month testing period.
UFC president Dana White, however, who has always been pessimistic of Georges’ return to the Octagon, still doesn’t believe the Canadian is serious about making a comeback.
Speaking on ESPN SportsCenter yesterday, White said he’ll believe it when he sees it.
“GSP coming back would be awesome,” White said when asked about who St-Pierre should face in his return. “I’m not buying it. GSP’s been saying he’s gonna come back for a couple of years now and, listen, he hasn’t fought in three, going on four years I think.
“I just don’t think GSP has that desire and drive in him anymore. I honestly don’t believe it. I’ll believe it when I see it.”
According to the Dana, St-Pierre hasn’t reached out to him personally to negotiate the terms of his return.
“His lawyers have talked to our lawyers, but I’ll believe it when I see it.”
GSP retired and vacated the 170-pound title in 2013 after his controversial split decision over Johny Hendricks at UFC 167. The 35-year-old defended the belt nine times and was largely considered one of the most dominant and best pound-for-pound champions in the sport.
