Jon Jones may be returning to the Octagon a lot sooner than you might think.

Last week, ‘Bones’ posted an update on social media regarding his failed drug test for UFC 200, and the 29-year-old seems optimistic of the future.

“Sure you guys are curious about with this USADA situation. Obviously, I can’t get into it because it’s still pending but, what I can say is that that we have found out lots of really good news and I am expecting to be back in the octagon really soon,” Jones said on Instagram.

Jones was removed from his light heavyweight championship bout with Daniel Cormier after it was revealed he had failed an out-of-competition drug test stemming from June 16.

The 29-year-old tested positive for clomiphene, an estrogen blocker, and letrozole, an aromatase inhibitor, but Dana White believes there has been complications with the results.

Speaking to TMZ in a recent interview, the UFC president elaborated on Jones’ case and said he’s confident that he didn’t take steroids.

“He was accused of taking the drug that you take when you’re getting off steroids … and it’s looking now like it’s not the case,” White said. He did not take that drug. He took something else that had it in it.”

“I’m a little happier now that he wasn’t taking that drug and that I now believe that he wasn’t taking steroids … but still, you can’t put anything in your body without notifying USADA or the Nevada State Athletic Commission.”

Since the UFC’s partnership with the United States Anti-Doping Agency, several fighters have been suspended for using performance-enhancing drugs. In some cases, though, such as the recent example with Chinese bantamweight Ning Guangyou, athletes have avoided punishment altogether or had their suspensions reduced.

Jones last fought at UFC 197, where he captured the interim 205-pound title by beating Ovince Saint Preux via unanimous decision. Since the failed drug test, the Jackson-Wink product has been removed from the official UFC rankings.
