After the UFC 202 early weigh-ins, Submission Radio caught up with Owen Ruddy, the striking coach of event headliner Conor McGregor. You can watch the entire interview at the top of the page, of which topics include McGregor weighing 168, the bottle-throwing war at Wednesday’s press conference, and his prediction for McGregor against Nate Diaz. Submission Radio has provided some of the key quotes in the text below.

On Conor’s weight for this fight

“This is kind of close to the weight he would normally walk around (at) if he was fighting at 145. He’s usually this big, but this time he’s a lot leaner, he’s got a little bit more muscle as well. So he was always gonna come in at this weight.”

“He’s more muscular, he’s leaner. He’s in the best shape of his life.”

On the bottle-throwing incident and if there’s animosity between the teams

“I don’t know where it all came from. It’s petty to be honest.”

“I don’t know. It depends on if we ever cross paths, like close. It’s alright when there’s loads of security between them, we can say shit. But like, you never know what happens when we actually cross paths. So we’ll see.”

Prediction for the fight

“Third round. Late in the second, early in the third.”
