BJJ powerhouse and MMA neophyte Gabi Garcia has got another MMA bout booked, as the Underground reports. The former multiple time world champion grappler has already competed twice in the last 12 months, knocking out Lei’D Tapa in her MMA debut back in December of 2015, and submitting Anna Malyukova at RIZIN 1 back in April. Now, with the next event from the upstart Japanese promotion fast approaching, she’s got a new test in front of her.
Destanie Yarbrough is a pro football player for the Central California War Angels women’s football team. She’s also 1-0 in MMA, having made her debut with a 1st round TKO (via doctor stoppage) over Crystal Parson in April of this year. The 5’ 7” 220 lb running back is set to make her RIZIN debut against Garcia at the promotion’s first leg of their 2016 Grand Prix as one of three WMMA bouts on the card.
RIZIN Fighting World Grand Prix 2016 is set to go down on September 25th in Saitama, Japan and will feature the first of several openweight fights leading to an eventual Grand Prix champion, to be crowned during the promotion’s New Year’s Eve events expected late this year.
