After failed UFC 201 weight cut, Justin Scoggins permanently moving up to bantamweight

Justin Scoggins is moving to a new home.

As BloodyElbow.com reported earlier, Scoggins pulled out of his UFC 201 pay-per-view matchup against veteran Ian McCall due to weight-cutting issues. After this, the current UFC flyweight contender has decided to permanently move up to the bantamweight division. His father, Chris Scoggins, confirmed the news to BloodyElbow.com on Thursday evening.

“No more 125 – never. [Scoggins is] done with 125. Bantamweight only,” Chris said. “Look out, [UFC bantamweight champion Dominick] Cruz.”

Scoggins (11-2) is currently riding a two-fight winning streak, with impressive unanimous decision wins over Ray Borg and Josh Sampo. His last loss was a submission to John Moraga just under two years ago. The 24-year-old, who stands at 5-foot-7, has never fought at bantamweight.

UFC 201 takes place live from the Philips Arena in Atlanta on Saturday, July 30. In the main event of the evening, UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler defends his belt for the third time against Tyron Woodley.
