Darrion Caldwell vs. Joe Taimanglo

R1: Caldwell sidesteps a lunging flurry from Taimanglo. Caldwell shoots from too far outside and Taimanglo backpedals to evade the single leg. Caldwell’s next attempt, however — a double leg to counter a kick — is successful. Caldwell goes to work in Taimanglo’s closed half guard. Taimanglo attempts a sweep from deep half guard and Caldwell, anticipating it, rolls onto his back. Taimanglo spins into him and Caldwell nearly steps into mount, but Taimanglo regains half guard.

Caldwell entangles Taimanglo’s left arm, possibly looking for the paint brush. Taimanglo frees his arm and gets full guard but his triangle attempt is casually shrugged off. Taimanglo escapes to his feet and quickly sprawls on a Caldwell double leg. Caldwell snaps the head down in the front headlock, then goes two-on-one for a far-side kimura attempt. Taimanglo slips free and scampers behind the turtled Caldwell, putting one hook in and pursuing a rear-naked choke. He’s too high and Caldwell slips out the back door. 10-9 Caldwell.

R2: Caldwell scores with an outside low kick. Taimanglo lands a body kick but loses his footing, leaving him exposed for Caldwell’s flying knee. Caldwell continues his momentum and takes Taimanglo down but can’t keep him there. Front-leg side kick lands to the body for Caldwell.

Taimanglo stays upright and planted while throwing a combo and Caldwell dumps him with a counter double leg, again landing in half guard. A few boos erupt as Caldwell holds position in half guard. Grinding top control from Caldwell with heavy hips. Taimanglo gets full guard just before referee John McCarty steps in to stand them up. 10-9 Caldwell.

R3: Caldwell telegraphs a double leg with no set up and Taimanglo falls back to crank a sacrifice guillotine. It’s tight and Caldwell taps quickly.

Nice outside low kick lands for Viana. Lins ducks an overhand right and lands one of his own with a minute left. Clean jab from Lins. 10-10.

R2: A minute in, Lins thwacks Viana with a wide right hand to the temple. Lins corners him and glances with a left hook, then detonates a looping right hook on Viana’s jaw. Viana crumples and two follow-up shots earn Lins the stoppage.

Rickels rushes Guillard and plugs him with a short shovel punch to the face. Rickels catches Guillard in the cup with an inside low kick but he’s ready to continue after a short pause. Guillard glances with a one-two and Rickels forces a clinch.

Vargas circles off the fence but Ducote hits an outside trip. Vargas pops back up and takes Ducote down, landing in half guard. Vargas lands a few lefts to the ribs, then postures up with a right hand. Closed half guard for Ducote, who’s trying to mute the top game of Vargas for a stand up, apparently. Vargas over-hooks on the left side and lands a few right hammer-fists to the head. 10-9 Ducote.

R2: Ducote flattens Vargas with a searing right hand, and this time Vargas goes down. Ducote pounces, landing hard rights to the head as Vargas turtles, then takes her back and cinches on a rear-naked choke. Vargas taps immediately.

Weichel catches the next low kick, though it does land, and turns it into a takedown but Sanchez is quickly back up and separated. Another right lands to the head for Weichel, who finishes a double leg only to have Sanchez rebound off the canvas and separate instantly.

Sanchez’s output has dropped a bit, likely due to Weichel’s sharp counterpunching. Good head movement in the pocket from Weichel, who fires back with a jab and a one-two. Weichel scores with a one-two-two. Sanchez comes up short on a knee but he lands a pair of outside low kicks. 10-9 Weichel.

R3: Weichel catches an outside low kick and takes Sanchez down, this time keeping him there. Sanchez closes his guard, then Weichel’s activity forces his guard back open and Weichel passes to half guard. Sanchez goes from the turtle position to his feet and rolls out of contact range.
