As revealed a few weeks back, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is MMA’s sole representative on the 2016 edition of ESPN The Magazine’s Body Issue. McGregor joins the likes of Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller, Houston Texans defensive tackle Vince Wilfork, US women’s soccer star Christen Press, US women’s boxing Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields, and Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade on this year’s issue.
The physical copies will be available for purchase at your local newsstands and bookstores on Friday, July 8th, but if you’ve been itching to see McGregor nude, today is your lucky day. At the top of the page, there’s a 2 minute clip of his naked Notoriousness hitting the heavy bag while photographers take pictures of him. He also does some rope work, but ESPN’s superb cameramen are able to avoid showing his nether regions. That’s how tasteful nudity works, I guess.
There’s already a feature article on McGregor, which you can view here. I know you’re just eager for a quote about him boxing Floyd Mayweather, so here’s one for you!
“If I only had to focus on boxing, hell, I’d be neck and neck with Floyd right now. I’m in the game of spinning plates. I’m spinning a boxing plate. I’m spinning a taekwondo plate. I’m spinning a jiujitsu plate. I’m spinning a freestyle wrestling plate. I’m spinning a karate plate. There are so many spinning plates in this game. If I was to put all of them down and have one boxing plate spinning, it would be like a load off my shoulders.”
By the way, you can see a fully-clothed (I assume) McGregor and Nate Diaz on Thursday, July 7th at 5 PM ET/2 PM PT, which is the date and time of their first UFC 202 press conference. UFC 202 itself is on August 20th, also at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
