Remember when the UFC used to run two events in one day? That sure was draining, wasn’t it? Well here’s a flashback to those days as we near this Saturday’s UFC 199 pay-per-view in Inglewood, California. Michael Bisping was coming off a tough loss to Tim Kennedy, while Cung Le hadn’t fought since KOing Rich Franklin in 2012. These two were paired for a Fight Pass main event in Macau, where Bisping would turn in one of his most violent performances.

Bisping bloodied and bruised Cung Le’s face in a brilliant showing, finally stopping the battered Le early in the 4th round. You can watch the video at the top of the page.

Here’s how Brent Brookhouse called the play-by-play for SB Nation:

Round 4 -Bisping comes out throwing combinations again. Le backed up into the cage again and Bisping opens up with a big combination and then lands a hard knee and Le drops hard. Bisping flurries and this one is over. Michael Bisping wins by TKO (knee and punches), round 4.

Normally this is where I show you a screenshot of the BE community’s reaction to the finish as it happened, but I do not think we actually had a play-by-play thread for this. The two events in one day thing was a hell of a time for handling event coverage. May it never return.

Bisping would lose to Luke Rockhold just a few months later, while Le’s drug test fiasco spelled the end of his career. Meanwhile, Bisping is set to rematch Rockhold, this time for Rockhold’s middleweight title, in the UFC 199 main event on Saturday, June 4th.
