Matt Brown had a strong message for the 20,000-strong Brazilian fans at the UFC 198 weigh-ins yesterday.
‘The Immortal’, who takes on hometown favorite Demian Maia on the FOX Sports preliminary broadcast later tonight, was greeted with a chorus of boos when he made his way to the stage.
Chants of “Uh vai morrer” (“You’re gonna die”) echoed throughout the arena when Brown was introduced. His response? The double middle finger – not once, but twice.
The welterweight veteran flipped the crowd off during his entrance and further antagonized them when he stepped onto the scales.
After losing to divisional standouts Robbie Lawler and Johny Hendricks, Brown rebounded with a first round submission – guillotine choke – over Tim Means at UFC 189. The #8 ranked welterweight will look to catapult into title contention with a win over Maia at UFC 198.
The pay-per-view, which features a heavyweight championship tilt between Fabricio Werdum and Stipe Miocic in the main event, takes place tonight, May 14, at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil.
