At a press conference on the eve of Glory 30, top kickboxing organization Glory announced the launch of a new division and an exciting new Grand Prix.
Starting immediately, Glory will include a Women’s Super Bantamweight (122 lb / 55.5 kg) division. A number of fighters were announced for the division including big names like former Lion Fight champion Tiffany Van Soest, former Bellator champion Zoila Frausto, and highly decorated veteran Iman Barlow among others.
The company also announced that they will launch the division with an 8-woman Grand Prix tournament. The brackets for that tournament are already set:
GLORY SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT GRAND PRIX
Tiffany Van Soest (14-2-1) vs. Emma Hasshass (9-2)
Zoila Frausto (4-0) vs. Daniella Graf (23-4-1)
Amel Dehby (27-0) vs. Ji-Waen Lee (13-2)
Iman Barlow (85-5-3) vs. Isis Verbeek (8-2)
Reserve: Ferial Ameeroedien vs. Irina Mazepa
The Grand Prix will not be a single night tournament, as the fights will take place on various Glory cards in the coming months. The tournament kicks off tonight, with Van Soest vs. Hasshass on the Glory 30 Los Angeles Superfight Series card. That show is available on UFC Fight Pass and airs tonight, Friday May 13 at 10:00 p.m. ET. Also already scheduled is Barlow vs. Verbeek, which will take place at the Glory 31 Amsterdam Superfight Series on June 25. Dates for the remaining quarterfinal fights are yet to be determined. The winner of the Grand Prix will be the division’s inaugural champion, and will also claim a prize of $25,000.
