The not-so-surprising news broke out that Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones would be the new headliners for UFC 200 on July 9th. This time, it’ll be a LHW title unification bout, with Jones winning the utterly pointless interim belt vs. Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197.
As you could expect, Cormier and Jones went on a verbal back-and-forth throughout today’s New York City press conference, including Jones’ promise to make Cormier cry again, plus Cormier calling Jones “an idiot” and “an addict.” You can expect a lot more from these two bitter rivals over the next several weeks.
If you were hoping for the two men to come to blows, as they did back in 2014, that didn’t happen in today’s staredown. They both had their belts over their shoulders, with Jones wearing sunglasses, and Dana White standing between the two best 205ers in the world.
