Technique of the Week: K-1 legend demonstrates brutal ‘Can Opener’ elbow strike

Sam Greco returns for another edition of Submission Radio’s “Technique of the Week”, and this time he’s showing you how to open up your opponent’s body and leave them susceptible to some punishment downstairs.

In the video above, Greco uses a “can opener” elbow strike that either smashes the opponent’s face, or if your opponent is smart and covers up, opens up their body for you to wreck havoc on. It’s a great move that can be used in combat sports like Muay Thai or MMA.

Greco (19-9-2) spent majority of his career competing for K-1 under kickboxing rules and faced fellow legends such as Ernesto Hoost, Jerome Le Banner, Ray Sefo, Mirko Cro Cop and many more. He also competed in MMA (3-1-1) and fought names such as Heath Herring and Lyoto Machida. Greco retired from fighting in 2005 after a first-round KO over Shungo Oyama at Heroes 3, under MMA rules.

Submission Radio posts technique videos every Wednesday, demonstrating a variety of moves from BJJ, MMA, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, Muay Thai, Sambo, and much more.
