BJ Penn vs. Dennis Siver announced for UFC 199

BJ Penn will make his return to the Octagon at UFC 199 against Dennis Siver. The fight has been confirmed by Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports.

The return of Penn to the UFC has been rumored since his move to Team JacksonWink in January. Penn’s most recent fight in the UFC was more than 18 months ago when he lost a one-sided bout to Frankie Edgar.

The loss to Edgar in July of 2014 was thought to have been Penn’s final fight in the UFC, with Penn contemplating retirement in his post fight speech.

The fight will also be Siver’s fight of the new year, having last fought on June 20th, 2015. Siver has dropped his last two fights, a TKO loss to Conor McGregor and a unanimous decision loss to Tatsuya Kawajiri.

UFC 199 features two title fights, with the main event being a rematch between UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold and former champion Chris Weidman. The co-main event will see Dominick Cruz defend his UFC Bantamweight Championship in a trilogy bout against Urijah Faber.

The event takes place at The Forum in Inglewood, California on June 4th. The event also features fights between Dustin Poirier and Bobby Green, as well as Evan Dunham against Leonardo Santos.
