UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero recently make the trek out to Albuquerque, New Mexico to train at Jackson-Wink MMA with former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who fights Ovince Saint Preux for the interim belt at UFC 197 later this month.

Although Jones’ wrestling coach Izzy Martinez noted in the Tweet above that Romero is “one hell of an addition” to Bones’ training camp, it has not been made clear how long Romero is planning to stay in Albuquerque.
Derek Brunson, an ex-opponent of Romero’s and Jackson-Wink MMA fighter, has made it clear in the past he is not a fan of Romero and nothing will change with the Cuban training at Jackson-Wink MMA.
“I won’t train with Yoel as long as he’s at middleweight,” Brunson told BloodyElbow.com.
The news that Romero is training at Jackson-Wink MMA came just after it was confirmed that Romero, who failed a post-fight drug test late last year following a UFC 194 win over Ronaldo Souza, had received a shortened suspension from USADA because a supplement he used was tainted with Ibutamoren.
Romero was likely next in line to fight middleweight champ Luke Rockhold but former titleholder Chris Weidman got the automatic rematch because it wasn’t known at the time if Romero would receive a full two-year suspension or not.
“The Solider of God” can return to active MMA competition on July 12, 2016.
