With Conor McGregor’s recent ascension to stardom, the Irishman has exploded into the mainstream and earned his first Hollywood movie role.
“The Notorious” was expected to feature in Vin Diesel’s upcoming xXx sequel, ‘xXx: The Return of Zander’, but is reported to have pulled out of the movie after dedicating more time to his one and only obsession: mixed martial arts.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto broke the news on Sports Center yesterday.
As I mentioned on @SportsCenter, I’m told McGregor has canceled his planned appearance in Vin Diesel’s XXX film. Doesn’t want distraction.

McGregor, who captured the official featherweight title after knocking out Jose Aldo in December, last fought at the blockbuster UFC 196 pay-per-view earlier this month. The SBG Ireland fighter was originally expected to challenge Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight belt but accepted a welterweight fight with Nate Diaz after his original opponent pulled out with a broken foot.
McGregor found success in the 1st round, busting up Diaz’ face with a series of left hands, but the tides turned when Diaz began landing combinations of his own to eventually set up a rear-naked choke submission midway through the 2nd round.
McGregor was expected to drop back down to the 145-pound division to defend his title, but MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani recently reported that he could rematch Diaz at UFC 200 in July.
