Fans of Conor McGregor may have that the Dubliner’s journey was at an end when he violently dethroned Jose Aldo to take the featherweight belt at UFC 194. At the time it seemed like the culmination of a long and hard journey, an ending that “Mystic Mac” had been predicting for years.
But for McGregor himself, the adventure isn’t even close to its end. For McGregor, whose titanic aspirations have no rival in the entire sport of MMA, there will always be more belts to be won, and more opponents to be felled.
Now with Rafael Dos Anjos withdrawn from UFC 196, McGregor’s replacement bout with Nate Diaz will take place at 170; McGregor’s plans for eventual welterweight domination may be closer to realization than anyone expected.
