Conor McGregor is now on ‘Roy Nelson’s diet’

Many have argued whether it was a wise decision for featherweight champion Conor McGregor to move up to the lightweight division and face titleholder Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196. After dos Anjos got hurt, the Irishman even went one better and will now compete against Nate Diaz at the welterweight limit of 170 pounds.

Possible disadvantages in the distance and power departments aside, McGregor seems to enjoy his newly found weight category, as he revealed in the first episode of UFC 196 Embedded.

“I have so much energy. I’m on weight right now, I’ve had two breakfasts, I feel really good,” McGregor said while training with movement coach Ido Portal, who he already worked with leading up his title win over Jose Aldo in December. “It’s nine days to the fight. We just trained for four and a half hours straight there, and I’m still full of energy.”

“I’m following this new nutrition diet,” McGregor later smiled while having an opulent dinner with his team. “Roy Nelson send us this new diet,” joked McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov.

“I don’t have to worry about weight, I don’t have to worry about nothing,” McGregor turned serious again. “Just keep the body loose, keep the body sharp, and go in and put this man away.”

You can watch the full episode above. Also on this Embedded: Holly Holm didn’t want to reveal what she’s working on going into her next fight, and Miesha Tate goes for a nighttime run and shows off her diet, which looks way different than McGregor’s.

UFC 196 will feature a welterweight bout between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz in the main event and takes place this Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
