This Saturday, Michael Bisping will welcome back into the Octagon former middleweight champion Anderson Silva, who is returning from a 12-month suspension. It could be the fight of Bisping’s life. Should he beat Silva, Bisping could position himself for a title shot, albeit not many believe that he stands a chance against the Brazilian superstar, who has been considered as the greatest fighter of all time.
Bisping, however, believes that his mental strength will help him silence all critics, as he revealed during the first episode of UFC Fight Night London Embedded.
“Everyone knows who Anderson Silva is. He’s one of the biggest names in the sport, people say the greatest of all time,” Bisping said. “This fight with Anderson is a big one. I’m going home back to England, in front of my home crowd, my friends, my family, my home nation in the biggest fight of my career. Beating Anderson will validate a lifetime’s hard work. I’m aware of my critics and what they say about my skill set, and they said I’m not good enough. So for me, by going out there, beating Anderson, I can silence those critics. And I can prove that I’m worthy of a title shot.”
“Anderson says that he’s coming for his title. Anderson says that he will be the champion again,” he continued. “He’s wearing these t-shirts, ‘The Spider rises again’ or some Jesus shit. That ain’t gonna happen. That is not gonna happen my friend! I am not the guy you wanna fight to rebuild your career. Simple as that, I’m a bad matchup for anyone in this world, and on my day I will beat anybody. Of course, physically I’m in great shape, but mentally I’m in the best shape ever. February 27th, I will put on the performance of my lifetime and I will defeat Anderson Silva.”
Also in this episode: Gegard Mousasi takes his new Porsche for a ride and Thales Leites enjoys some good Brazilian food, especially made for him by his mother.
UFC Fight Night London takes place this Saturday in the O2 Arena, with the main card streaming live exclusively on UFC Fight Pass at 4 PM ET/1 PM PT.
