Since October, Ronda Rousey’s mother Dr. Ann Maria De Mars has been vocal about her displeasure towards her daughter’s head trainer, Edmond Tarverdyan. So much so that the former judo champion even went as far as saying she’d run Tarverdyan over with her car, if it wasn’t against the law.
For her part, Rousey has opted to keep her responses to her mother a private matter. But if there’s one thing certain, it does not look like she is leaving her trainer’s side any time soon.
Recently, De Mars put Tarverdyan on blast once again, calling him a “fraud”, and hoped that he would either “lose his license or go to jail”.
“I think if she changes, if she changes her training camp, she has an outstanding chance of winning,” De Mars said. “If she doesn’t – you know what, as a statistician, one thing we tell people all the time is, the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.”
Tarverdyan has been civil in terms of his responses to De Mars in the past, and he chose to keep the same tone in his most recent one.
“It’s just her opinion. I’m just here to train Ronda and it really doesn’t matter,” Tarverdyan told TMZ Sports.
“Ronda knows who I am. I am her trainer and that’s really about it.”
UPDATE: TMZ Sports producer Keith Jackson says he did not speak to a parody Tarverdyan Twitter account, as was suggested late last night.
For the record, I talked to Edmond at GFC this afternoon That phone convo’s what TMZ Sports story’s based off. Nothing else @eddietarverdyan
