UFC heavyweight contender Josh Barnett is co-headlining this Saturday’s FOX card against Ben Rothwell, with the winner moving a step closer towards a title shot. Earlier this week, Barnett had a media lunch scrum, where he said he would fight Stipe Miocic on short notice at UFC 196, but that obviously never materialized, so let’s focus on the real top quote from his Q&A session.
At the 45:56 mark of the video (which you can watch at the top of the page), Karyn Bryant asks the “Warmaster” what’s the worst injury he’s fought with. The answer may surprise you, amuse you, horrify you, and/or a bunch of other feelings.
“Bent penis,” Barnett said. “It was the worst injury but it did give me a new creative angle on life.”
For the record, he later noted that the worst injury he had going into a fight was a torn labrum (plus “stressed out rotator cuffs”) in his first meeting with Mirko Cro Cop in 2004.
Barnett did not elaborate on how his penis got bent, when it became un-bent, the bending point of the penis, whom he fought at the time of his phallic fiasco, and whether or not he was actually being serious (because he’s known to be quite the humorous fellow). But if we are to assume he’s telling the truth, it could’ve been a lot worse for Barnett than just a bent penis. Former UFC fighter Waylon Lowe sued a sex shop after his genitals were rendered “permanently disfigured and dysfunctional” after using the Kama Sutra Pleasure Balm Prolonging Gel. Middleweight champion Chris Weidman once had his penis caught in his pants zipper, and false rumors were spread by his brother that he was living a penis-less life through grade school. Lest we forget that Ray Elbe’s penis was left broken and bloodied in a frightening sex tale.
