On Friday, February 26, Glory presents their first kickboxing event of 2016 with Glory 27 Chicago. Glory 27 will be live on the ESPN networks, and we’ll have live coverage right here. Headlining the show is the third fight between Artem Levin and Simon Marcus – a much anticipated Middleweight title clash. Now, Glory has set the full card.
In the night’s co-main event, #15 ranked Giga Chikadze (33-4; 1-1 Glory) will face #6 Anvar Boynazarov (79-20-2; 1-1 Glory) in a Featherweight fight. These two met at Glory 23 last year with Boynazarov taking the win in a very exciting fight. Chikadze trains out of King’s MMA, while Boynazarov brings in a great Muay Thai background. With the relative lack of depth in this division, either man can move right into title contention and a shot at champion Serhiy Adamchuk with a good win here.
Also on the show will be a 4 man Middleweight tournament. Semifinals are #4 Dustin Jacoby vs. Mike Lemaire and #5 Wayne Barrett vs. #7 Robert Thomas. It’s a very interesting field and a real tough tournament to predict. Jacoby comes in off a KO win over Barrett, while opponent Lemaire has found a lot of success in Lion Fight as of late. Barrett is a former top contender now riding a bad 1-4 skid, and Thomas is a much touted Canadian prospect looking to realize his potential as a title challenger. There’s a lot of history between these four, which makes for an intriguing field.
No Superfights are yet announced – stay tuned for more details.
