New York City may have been buried under record-breaking amounts of snow, but that wasn’t enough to cancel Saturday Night Live! Last night’s guest host was none other than former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, who became the first MMA fighter to host the famous sketch comedy program.
The opening monologue included a quick congratulations to Holly Holm, a solid 2+ months after Rousey lost to her at UFC 193. Beck Bennett and Colin Jost commentated on Rousey’s performance throughout the segment, while Kenan Thompson coached Rousey through the monologue. Rousey slapped “Justin Bieber”, as played by Kate McKinnon. Musical guest Selena Gomez made an early appearance before they went to commercial break. I’ve written way too much about a show I’ve stopped watching years ago.
Here’s your one-stop shop for all of the sketches she appeared in, including the video at the top of the page, plus everything within this post. I should note that depending on where you’re viewing this, you could be geo-blocked. Bloody Elbow’s own Rainer Lee did a fantastic play-by-play of last night’s show, so I recommend you check that out, because it’s arguably way funnier than virtually every sketch that made it to air.
Bland Man (parody of The Bachelor, Rousey plays one of the contestants)
Teacher Trial (Rousey plays one of the two teachers on trial for a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student)
Love Struck (High-school aged Rousey punishes those who played a cruel prank on her)
Super Crew (Rousey is “Metallia”, who can bend metal with her mind)
At The Club (Watch men rap to Rousey and other women about their penis size!)
City Council (Rousey plays a circus promoter)
Football Party (…I honestly don’t know how this sketch got past dress rehearsal)
