If I Did It: Holly Holm gets paid, changing UFC judging, George RR Martin blows a deadline and VanillaISIS

Alexei Auld is back to grill Eugene S. Robinson, author of Fight: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Ass-Kicking but Were Afraid You’d Get Your Ass Kicked for Asking and myself with some PR stumpers from the world of combat sports.

Today’s puzzlers include:

  • You’re Holly Holm. Now that you’ve got the “Holm world in your hands”, along with a new UFC contract, are you PR proactive or PR reactive if the UFC demands that you wait for Ronda, despite your desire for an earlier fight?
  • You’re the UFC. You put on an incredible headliner at UFC 195 to low buy rates and complaints about judging. This is the fourth time in the last two years that a welterweight title fight has gone to a controversial decision. Is it time for you to start lobbying for changes in MMA judging? Joe Rogan thinks so.
  • You’re George RR Martin. Your upcoming book THE WINDS OF WINTER will not be published before the sixth season of GAME OF THRONES premieres on HBO in April. Since the show, based on your yet to be published storylines, is likely to conclude before you finish your book series, how do you stay relevant and keep control of your creation?
  • TEACHABLE MOMENT: You’re Ammond and Ryan Bundy. To protest the prosecution of Dwight and Steve Hammond and alleged federal government abuse of ranchers, you seized the Malheur Wildlife Refuge building in Oregon and called on anti-government militia members from all over the country to join your cause. Since your armed takeover, Dwight and Steve Hammond returned to government custody. The Leaders of your Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints “strongly condemn(ed) the armed seizure of the facility,” Ted Cruz is keeping his distance. The Oath Keepers and other militia and patriot leaders have disavowed your actions. And your cause has become fodder for Internet jokesters who refer to you as “Y’all Qaeda” “Vanilla Isis” and your mission a “YeeHawd.” You claimed to have 150 armed supporters present but eye witnesses say it’s more like 15. Do you surrender quietly or start shooting?
  • Plus Alexei’s CURVEBALL and Eugene’s LOST BATTALION
