Former UFC interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit gets another shot at glory this weekend when he takes on Robbie Lawler at UFC 195. Condit was also the WEC 170-pound champ for a while, and has been in the cage with the best that the division has to offer. One of those men was Georges St-Pierre, who defeated him by unanimous decision in late 2012.
While taking part in the open workouts, Condit was asked to compare GSP to current opponent Lawler. Unsurprisingly, he offered a pretty solid answer:
“Georges, he wasn’t as dangerous but he did have his aura about him. He had this mystique. Robbie not so much, but he’s the more dangerous fighter.”
That is very true. GSP didn’t finish a lot of people later in his career, while Lawler brutalizes people with his striking. Just ask Rory MacDonald’s face.
Condit believes that his bout with Lawler could be just as violent as well:
“They’re going to lock us in the cage and me and Robbie Lawler are going to try to f**king kill each other. “I think we’re two of the most skilled guys in the division, for sure. If not the sport. I think we’re going to go in there and put on a display of violence and aggression that people won’t soon forget.”
The two men will lock horns in the headliner of Saturday’s PPV in Vegas.
