It’s almost been a year since Anderson Silva failed his drug test for steroids at UFC 183, and the Brazilian has kept a low profile since his suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission. That hasn’t stopped Michael Bisping, who will face Silva at UFC Fight Night 83, from potshotting “The Spider” on Twitter.

Silva tested positive for drostanolone metabolites and androsterone but insisted that the results stemmed from a sexually enhancing blue vial he received from a friend in Thailand. The NAC handed down a 12-month suspension (retroactive Jan 31) and hit the former middleweight champion with a $380,000 fine.

Yesterday, during a conference call for UFC Fight Night: Silva vs. Bisping (per MMA Fighting), the 40-year-old fired back at Bisping and claimed he has never taken performance-enhancing drugs in his career.

“I don’t have to prove absolutely anything to Bisping or anyone else besides myself,” Silva said. “I never needed any illegal substance, steroid or anything like that. I made a mistake, and everyone can make mistakes. I never tested positive before. I was questioned by the commissioner, and he was arrogant and ironic by asking me if I had ever been randomly tested before. I said no, because I never had any problems with doping and I never used it. My body is the same ever since I started fighting until now.”

Silva also recently expressed his excitement for the Michael Bisping bout and believes a dominant win will catapult him into title contendership.

Anderson Silva vs. Michael Bisping will headline the UFC Fight Night 83 card in London, England on February 27th.
