Georges St-Pierre teased a possible comeback recently, with the long time UFC welterweight champ saying that he feels the itch to make a return. His coach in Firas Zahabi echoed the same thing, stating that he knows the 34-year-old is a competitor and still has a lot of fight left in him.
His teammate in Rory MacDonald is in Dublin for a fan Q&A, and the top contender was asked about the possibility of a return.
“From what we’ve talked about, he’s not coming back for the belt,” MacDonald said. “He’s coming back for the odd fight I think that interests him”
Giving that sort of insider information made the crowd cheer loudly, but then Rory became coy about the whole thing and sort of backtracked and said he doesn’t know much about GSP’s plans.
“If… If he comes back…. Okay, keep it in your pants,” Rory said with a laugh. “I don’t know if he’s coming back. But as far as I know, if he does I think he’s more interested in super-fights and whatnot.”
So if one of the all-time greats really does make a return, which super-fight would you want to see him in? That Silva vs GSP bout has been about 5 years overdue, but I still wouldn’t mind seeing that be a part of UFC 200.
