This is not a high-budget, extravagant PPV that is prevalent in Mayweather and Pacquiao PPVs. It’s Golovkin’s (33-0, 30 KOs) debut on the platform and he’s sold out the famed Manhattan arena, and his fan-friendly style has seen his bandwagon get considerably bigger. In his path is Canada’s Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs), who is a heavy underdog mostly because of how dominant Golovkin has been, much like Ronda Rousey is against any opponent she’s faced in the UFC.

Before the main event, the card will feature flyweight champion (and arguable #1 P4P fighter in all of boxing) Roman Gonzalez (43-0, 37 KOs), who faces veteran former champ Brian Viloria (36-2, 22 KOs) in a dynamite co-main event. Meanwhile, undefeated heavyweight Luis Ortiz (22-0, 2 NCs; 19 KOs) faces Matias Ariel Vidondo (20-1-1, 18 KOs) in a matchup of Cuba vs. Argentina. Opening the broadcast is an IBF middleweight #1 contender bout between Tureano Johnson (18-1, 13 KOs) and Ireland’s Eamonn O’Kane (14-1-1, 5 KOs).

There will be play-by-play of the two title fights on the card: Golovkin vs. Lemieux and Roman Gonzalez vs. Brian Viloria. The other two undercard bouts will have a results update, but will have live-tweet coverage on the Bloody Elbow Twitter account.

UNDERCARD RESULTS:

Tureano Johnson def. Eamonn O’Kane via unanimous decision (119-107, 117-109, 118-108) – Middleweights
Luis Ortiz def. Marias Ariel Vidondo via KO at :17 round 3 – Heavyweights

WBC FLYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: ROMAN GONZALEZ (c) VS. BRIAN VILORIA ROUND BY ROUND RESULTS:

Round 1 – Viloria comes out aggressively. Misses with a jab and a right hand. Chants of “Gonzalez” go around MSG. Gonzalez not really doing much in the early going. But now he comes forward and clips Viloria with a right hand. Then doubles up on the left hook. Viloria pumps the jab out and then misses a right. A right cross tags Gonzalez. Roman closes the round strongly but I score it 10-9 Viloria.

Round 2 – Two left hooks blocked by Gonzalez, who still has really yet to get going offensively. Gonzalez with a ripping left to the body as he starts to open up. And another body shot. Viloria lands a jab. Good uppercut by Viloria with 30 seconds to go. Another good left upstairs and then a glancing body blow. 10-9 Viloria and 20-18 Viloria.

Round 3 – Gonzalez goes on the offensive early and connects with a solid combination finished off with a right hand. And then a right hand counter puts Viloria on the canvas! Gorgeous uppercut combination by Gonzalez. Viloria is getting tagged repeatedly. Right hand to the temple by the champion. Viloria appears to be somewhat recovered. Digs to the body but Gonzalez fires back with several uppercuts and body shots. My goodness Roman is so accurate. 10-8 Gonzalez and 28-28 even

Round 4 – Quick right from Viloria. Gonzalez with a pawing jab. Gonzalez with 7 punches thrown and I think 3 landed. Viloria now comes back and gets in some good shots on Gonzalez, who momentarily backs up.  Great combination by Gonzalez buzzes Viloria. Solid left hook to the body by Viloria. And now Gonzalez blitz Viloria and jars his head around but Viloria answers back.  Lightning quick left hook and then a right to the side of the head. Gonzalez eats a few body shots to end round 4. 10-9 Gonzalez and 38-37 Gonzalez

Round 5 – Gonzalez pressuring Viloria more in the 5th. Blinding speed and accuracy at work again as Viloria eats a crunching right hand. Viloria is getting worked  so far in this round. Gonzalez is ruthless. He’s stringing together ridiculous combinations but isn’t quite able to get Viloria seriously hurt. Viloria’s output has decreased considerably. Right hand, another right, then to the body goes Gonzalez.   Viloria connects on a left uppercut but Gonzalez  finishes the round with a slew of solid punches to put him up another round. 10-9 Gonzalez and 48-46 Gonzalez

Round 6 – More slick work by Gonzalez in the opening minute. Every Viloria punch is answered by 6-7 or more by Gonzalez.  Viloria with a blocked right hand in the center of the ring. Another slew of uppercuts and sharp punches are taken by Viloria. Gonzalez with more shots. He’s beating him around the ring. Viloria answers with a left hook. Gonzalez won’t stop punching.  Another Gonzalez round. 10-9 Gonzalez and 58-55 Gonzalez

Round 7 – Viloria starts out nicely but Gonzalez again gets to business. His workrate is astounding and now he’s hurt Viloria with a right hand. A counter-right smacks Viloria again.  Gonzalez is a machine and he’s punching much faster than I’m capable of typing. SEVEN punch combination with everything landed. Viloria getting in some shots in the center of the ring but Gonzalez responds well. Fires away the uppercuts.  10-9 Gonzalez and 68-64 Gonzalez

Round 8 – Still all Gonzalez and things aren’t getting any better for Viloria, who isn’t doing badly, he’s just completely been outclassed by this dynamo. Short left hooks and looping right hands by Gonzalez. Viloria just can’t handle Gonzalez’s speed and timing.  Great left uppercut on the inside by the champion. Jab and then body for Gonzalez. Straight right hand. Left hook to the body. It’s almost like practice for Gonzalez. Good attack from Gonzalez against the ropes. Viloria comes forward with a good right. 10-9 Gonzalez and 78-73 Gonzalez

Round 9 – Doctor checked in on Viloria after a rough round 8. The fight continues and it’s more of the same from Gonzalez.  Lovely right hand and then a lightning combination by Gonzalez. Viloria is throwing but his punches are slower and they lack the snap that Gonzalez has. Jab by Gonzalez. Quick three punches and another right by Gonzalez. Viloria is a gamer, and he’s only been stopped once in his career. Gonzalez  is as fresh in round 9 as he was in round 3.  Downstairs and upstairs for Gonzalez. Viloria gets hurt in the corner. And the ref has stopped it after an onslaught of unanswered punches! Really can’t argue against it.

Official result: Roman Gonzalez def. Brian Viloria via TKO at 2:53 of round 9 to remain WBC Flyweight champion
