Bellator MMA’s one-man light heavyweight tournament final has a major shake-up. Muhammed Lawal defeated Linton Vassell in the first semifinal, but neither man will be able to compete against Phil Davis in the final at Bellator: Dynamite 1. Bleacher Report’s Jeremy Botter confirmed on-site in San Jose that King Mo suffered a rib injury and was forced to pull out of the bout:

Linton Vassell suffered one heavy punch too many in his loss to King Mo, so he wasn’t given medical clearance as the first replacement for Mo. This means that none other than former UFC middleweight Francis Carmont has the unlikely chance to become the new #1 contender in the light heavyweight division. He won his reserve bout over Anthony Ruiz on the prelims and will fight Davis in the Bellator: Dynamite co-main event, with the winner guaranteed a title shot vs. the Tito Ortiz vs. Liam McGeary winner.
