Bellator: Dynamite 1 results and highlights – Davis KOs Carmont to win LHW tournament
Bloody Elbow 2.0 | Anton Tabuena

Phil Davis was supposed to face Muhammed Lawal in a much-anticipated conclusion to the Bellator: Dynamite 1 one-night, four-man tournament. Unfortunately for King Mo, an injury forced him out, and Linton Vassell wasn’t cleared as his replacement, so reserve bout winner Francis Carmont stepped in to face Davis in the Dynamite co-main.

Not much happened in the opening 90 seconds, which sparked boos from the crowd. Then unbelievably, a leaping left hook dropped Carmont to the canvas. A series of vicious ground strikes ended Carmont’s night in emphatic fashion. It’s Davis’ first stoppage win by strikes since 2009, right after he submitted Emanuel Newton in the semifinals for his first stoppage win since 2012.

Official result: Phil Davis def. Francis Carmont via KO (punches) at 2:15 of round 1

Davis is going to fight the winner of Tito Ortiz vs. Liam McGeary next up, and he will surely be favored to beat either man.
