The GLORY portion of Bellator: Dynamite 1 kicked off with a first ever women’s kickboxing bout for GLORY, featuring Keri Melendez and Hadley Griffith. Griffith was making her pro kickboxing debut and was a heavy underdog against the wife of UFC star Gilbert Melendez.
Melendez battered Griffith through a good portion of round 1, going forward with a series of punches, knees, and kicks. Griffith was bloodied in the opening round. A body kick hurt Griffith in the 2nd round and Melendez attacked with knees from the clinch. Griffith struggled with Melendez’s movement and, well, anything that involved strikes.
More leg kicks and punches continued for Keri Melendez, who never knocked Griffith down but just battered her in a wholly non-competitive contest. Griffith’s lead leg was a different color than when round 1 started. She fought back, but it wasn’t remotely close to troubling Griffith.
Official result: Keri Melendez def. Hadley Griffith via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26)
