On Thursday evening, Matt Hughes commented on Nick Diaz’s ridiculous 5-year suspension with wording that some people didn’t appreciate. The former welterweight champion turned UFC executive sent out a string of tweets where he called Diaz a ‘punk’ that shouldn’t have expected leniency, and this didn’t sit well with Matt Mitrione.

The UFC heavyweight then decided to put him to task on twitter, and you check out the complete exchange below:
@matthughes9x you’re a VP of athlete development & u come after @nickdiaz209 like that? Just another reason I don’t respect you. #Sellout

In case you forgot @matthughes9x, you’re supposed to be a liaison for it’s fighters regarding conduct not making headlines against us
— Matt Mitrione (@mattmitrione) September 18, 2015
@mattmitrione you need to go back and read all my tweets. Not just one.
— Matt Hughes (@matthughes9x) September 18, 2015
I’ve read them. A commission punishment should be factual, objective ruling predicated upon facts not upon attitude https://t.co/IMAmAOc2Xz
— Matt Mitrione (@mattmitrione) September 18, 2015
@mattmitrione if you think I’m on the commissions side you don’t read well!
— Matt Hughes (@matthughes9x) September 18, 2015
I read just fine and my position is you shouldn’t have spoken out against US publicly. YOU vs US is my position https://t.co/Q0M8fD1kXd
— Matt Mitrione (@mattmitrione) September 18, 2015
@_Salvate @mattmitrione Is that so hard for others to figure out???
— Matt Hughes (@matthughes9x) September 18, 2015
I’ll teach you, Matthew. take a stand against the commission for the punishment instead of speaking out against US https://t.co/iYRo0nBGxj
— Matt Mitrione (@mattmitrione) September 18, 2015
But his attitude should be IRRELEVANT. The facts that were delivered should be the only language being deciphered https://t.co/NYT8QdaIP2

@burrovago @mattmitrione I can’t speak freely right now, but you will see in the near future.
— Matt Hughes (@matthughes9x) September 18, 2015
That’s funny cuz you sure spoke freely when calling him a punk but whatever, hope I see you taking a stand FOR us https://t.co/rXkZkYdqwq
— Matt Mitrione (@mattmitrione) September 18, 2015
@mattmitrione I need to talk to you.
— Matt Hughes (@matthughes9x) September 18, 2015
Seems like things then were discussed away from the public eye, which as an executive of the UFC, Hughes should’ve immediately done right when this all started.
