UFC strawweight talent Paige VanZant is quickly becoming one of the promotion’s most recognizable female stars.
The 21-year-old has already secured an exclusive sponsorship deal with Reebok and seems to embrace the media spotlight. As well has her marketable personality, VanZant also entertains with her relentless fighting style in the Octagon.
Despite all of her positive characteristics, ’12 Gauge’ is a target for angry fans and fellow UFC fighters. The Team Alpha Male fighter recently had a White House petition filed against her for not shaving her head in the name of charity.
When speaking to MMAFighting on Friday, Alpha Male owner Urijah Faber said he’d been preparing VanZant for the negativity that comes along with the high-profile lifestyle for a long time.
“That poor girl was just thrown into that whirlwind,” Faber said. “I think it’s part of being a girl and the pretty girl syndrome, you’re going to have a lot of haters. I prepared her for that a long time ago.”
Paige VanZant recently earned her third win under the UFC banner after beating Alex Chambers on the main card at UFC 191. The ever-evolving VanZant submitted Chambers with an armbar in the third round.
